FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Baltic Amber jewelry?

Baltic Amber is a fossilized tree resin, not a stone like is commonly thought. Baltic amber has been known to help ease life's aches and pains for centuries. And it's beautiful, so has been used in jewelry making for a long time as well.

Genuine baltic amber has been known to relieve all kinds of pain, as well as decrease the amount of drool in little ones! It is believed to boost the immune system, aid in balancing the pH of the body, and has proved useful for adults in relieving pain caused by headaches, arthritis, carpal tunnel, etc. Baltic Amber is said to reduce chronic inflammation as well as provide many other benefits to the wearer!

Does it have any other potential side effects?

I have heard of a couple cases where there was slight skin irritation from wearing baltic amber jewelry, but this is very rare.

Other side effects you can expect would be less pain, less inflammation, more comfort, calmer demeanor, reduce anxiety and increased wellness in general!

Why would I put a necklace on my child? Isn't that unsafe?

Baltic Amber Avenue always recommends only having your child wear a necklace (of any kind) when under adult supervision. There should be no way that a necklace would get caught on anything - but it is best to play it safe! If it were to be pulled tight, Baltic Amber Avenue children's jewelry is designed to break at the clasp. There is a knot between each bead to prevent loose beads running astray.

We sell anklets (or wrap their necklace twice around an ankle!) which can be covered easily with socks or all-in-one outfits to prevent access or falling off.

Jewelry should NOT be played with or chewed on by the child! Federal regulation prohibits recommending products with small parts to children under 3 years old.

I thought Baltic Amber was just for kids?

That is a common misconception because of the jewelry's recent popularity for use as a teething remedy in young children and babies.

Some testimonies from my adult customers include: less wrist pain from carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis, reduction of migraine pain, help with epilepsy symptoms, able to get off steroid cream for managing back pain, and so much more!

What size necklace should I buy?

Sizing is important as you don't want it to be uncomfortable, or to have a necklace so long the child plays with it, or it hangs on the outside of clothing. The best method is to use a string to simulate the necklace at the length you would like - then measure the string. If you are buying a necklace as a gift then I recommend an 11 inch or 12 inch size for children, and 18 inch to 20 inch for adults. These sizes are very common and if it's a little too long, can be tucked under the shirt.

What is your return policy?

We provide exchanges on any Baltic Amber Avenue item that breaks within a year of purchase. If it breaks, let us know! Obviously we DO want the necklaces to break under pressure, so occasionally it happens that a piece breaks when we didn't want it to, too. We totally understand the inconvenience of that and will offer store credit or exchange it for either the same, or similar item. We do ask that you send the broken item back to us. Please contact us if you have any questions.

We also offer store credit for items that were found to be the incorrect size or style. (Especially when given as gifts!) Please return the unwanted item and we will issue you equivalent store credit. Email us for details.
